Without boldness, courage, and bravery, Dr. Soumaya Naamane Guessouss would not have published one of her successful books, “Au delà de toute Pudeur.”
Soumaya Naamane Guessouss is a professor at Hassan II, sociologist, journalist, and author. She is well known for arising “daring” subjects, such as women’s sexuality, which is considered “shameful” or “prohibited” in Moroccan society. She faced many challenges during her journey because she chose a specific and sensitive topic in her doctoral dissertation, which was the sexual life of Moroccan women. Also, doing research and traveling alone from one place to another was a big obstacle for her. Soumaya Guessouss aimed to disseminate sexual awareness in Morocco; therefore, her ambition drove her to publish three books related to this field: Au delà de toute Pudeur in 1988, “Printemp et Automne sexuel “ ,which discusses aging, menopause, and andropause,then she wrote “Grossesses de la honte” that highlights the situation of single mothers in Morocco.
Besides her profession as an academic professor, Soumaya has been working as a personal development coach since 1990, she helps individuals, employees, and students to train their soft skills.
An inspirational woman leader is a daring and risk taker person. Soumaya swam against the tide and spoke about neglected topics that require patience and courage;she dared herself and community in order to leave an unforgettable impact.
