One of Lighter Loads' founders, Debbie Booher, talks about what inspired her to help Texas' homeless people. In Austin, Texas, Debbie Booher fights for the rights of the homeless. Booher has devoted her life and free time to helping those in need in addition to holding a full-time career. Since she was a little girl, she has been compelled to assist others. When she was six years old, she asked her parents whether she could give a homeless man on the street her McDonald's Happy Meal. She continues to buy extra food and materials today and give them to homeless people. She decided to go further when she witnessed the rise in the number of homeless people, so she founded Lighter Loads with two friends in 2018. By providing toiletries, fresh clothes, a hot shower, a pleasant lunch, a haircut, and a chiropractic adjustment, and most importantly, supportive environments. Booher was dedicated to assisting Austin's homeless people. To make sure everyone had fun while working together, she organized gatherings with music and a fun environment. Booher initially asked her co-founders if some of their regulars would lend a hand to organize the gatherings. Booher says she is "a strong proponent of aiding and what it can do for the human soul," which is why she stands in line next to the volunteers.They truly like helping others and giving back to the community. Everyone wants to feel needed because it gives them a sense of purpose, she said. The typical wall separating the volunteers is absent. Together, they offer help to others, pray, eat meals together, and communicate amicably. Some people live in the community even though they are homeless.

" Booher claimed that her motivation is fueled by assisting someone move into permanent residence. "Too many people are unable to obtain a job interview because they lack clean clothing and access to a shower. Because of our assistance, many people have been able to get employment, which helps them move into permanent housing, she said.

Booher praises her close relationship with God for her success and passion for service. "Jesus would be helping the homeless beside me if he were living today," Debbie Booher said.
